Boswell cracks rib in scuffle with armed intruder

Des Moines, Iowa- Congressman Leonard Boswell suffered a cracked rib this weekend after an attempted home invasion. The incident happened at his family farm in Lamoni around 10:45 PM on July 16th. On that evening, an armed intruder enter the Boswell family farm in Lamoni. The intruder brandished a gun and assaulted Boswell’s daughter, Cindy Brown. Hearing Brown’s screams, Boswell came into the room.

Seeing the intruder, Boswell began to fight with the intruder in an attempt to get the gun away. Shortly thereafter, Boswell’s grandson entered the room and pointed a shotgun at the intruder. The intruder fled the house into the fields around the property. The suspect is still at large. The FBI, Decatur County Sheriff’s office, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are all involved in this investigation. This is an updated story.
