by Wade Steinlage

Oskaloosa–Dalaney Bice (So., Woodward, Iowa, Human Services & Psychology) was rewarded for a strong 2018 campaign as the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball teams were announced Wednesday.

Bice was named a second-team pick for the first honor of her career. She was chosen as an at-large selection and was one of 20 individuals who earned second-team recognition.

The sophomore guided WPU during a 14-38 season (8-28 Heart), hitting .335 (55-for-164) with 16 doubles, six home runs, 32 RBIs, and 23 runs scored. She also walked 12 times and was hit by pitch twice. Bice posted a .543 slugging percentage and a .385 on-base clip.

Bice managed a pair of six-game hitting streaks this spring. Entering Wednesday, she was tied for sixth in the league in doubles and was 20th with 1.71 bases per game.

The sophomore also spent time in the pitching circle, owning a 2-6 record with a 6.70 Earned Run Average in 31 1/3 innings. She struck out 27 batters in 11 appearances (two starts).
