Betty Ann Garden, 33, of Albia, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. Betty Ann Garden was born on July 6, 1988, at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa, IA, to Randy and Jacquelene (Schippers) Garden.

Betty grew up attending school in Oskaloosa. After graduating from high school, she then attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa where she obtained her CNA Certificate.

Betty worked as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant Park in Oskaloosa before going to work at Vermeer in Pella where she operated a fork truck in the shipping and receiving department.

Betty loved being outdoors where she enjoyed things such as fishing, kayaking, camping, hiking, grilling food and sitting around the campfire. She was a free spirit who cherished hanging out and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed gardening and placing gnomes and fairies in the garden with her son, Zane. Above all else, Betty’s son, Zane, was absolutely everything to her.

Betty is survived by her son, Zane Garden; her parents, Randy and Jaci Garden; 3 siblings: Stephanie (& Logan) Cavan, Denise (& Mark) Bower, and Clayton (& Maddi) Garden; her nieces and nephews: Jonathan, Darion, Lauren, Luke, Roslyn, Norah, and Rori; and her grandparents, Marvin and Margo Klein. Betty is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence Brooks & Betty Garden and Jack Schippers; 2 cousins, Zach Van Donselaar and Tammy Helle; 2 aunts, Donna Garden and Minetta Scott; and 2 uncles, Walter Graham and Richard Graham.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Lake Miami Shelter House in Monroe County.

Betty’s family would like to encourage people to bring their fishing poles, kayaks, lawn chairs, and other outdoor equipment to participate in an afternoon of things that Betty loved doing.
