Janet was born December 13, 1920, in Geneva, Illinois, to Hugh and Helen Mann Aspinwall. She grew up and attended school in Wheaton, Illinois, graduating in 1938. Attending Wheaton College in Illinois, she knew students Ruth and Billy Graham. Janet was a lieutenant officer in the Salvation Army in California and served with them in the 1950’s. She earned her BA degree, majoring in Bible, at Vennard College at University Park, Iowa. Janet was ordained in the Evangelical Methodist Church and was recognized by the Church of the Nazarene. Throughout her life, Christian service was her main goal. Being a WWII veteran, she served in the US Navy WAVES from 1944-1946. Janet enjoyed music and sang in the Navy Choir. Janet married Dwight Thomas Morrow on May 4, 1962. Janet and her husband, Dwight, lived on their farm south of Delta until 2006, when they moved into the Delta Housing. In February, 2011, they moved to the Sigourney Care Center. Her ministerial profession was a daily blessing. Churches she pastored were in Arcata, California, Marengo, Iowa, and Corydon, Iowa. Her last ministry was as an interim pastor at Union Chapel-Christian Union near Fremont, Iowa. She retired from full time ministry in 1983, but never ended her service to God. Prayer was her daily habit, finding great enjoyment in praying for her family, friends, our nation and the world. Janet loved to write poetry and in 2002 published a collection of her works “Through All These Years”. She had been a member of the Delta Federated Women’s Club and the Delta Garden Club. Janet earned the title of Master Gardener by completing the course work and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her husband, numerous nieces and nephews, and many Christian friends survive Janet. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Westley, and brother Hugh Aspinwall. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Union Chapel-Christian Union Church near Fremont. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM prior to the service.
