PELLA —Central College forward Alayna Bailey (senior, Des Moines, Hoover HS) was named Iowa Conference women’s soccer offensive performer of the week for the second consecutive week after a pair of two-goal performances.

It is the third career performer of the week honor for Bailey, who produced identical stat lines—two goals on five shots, four on goal, for four points —in two drastically different games.

The Dutch defeated Monmouth (Ill.) 3-1 on Wednesday evening. After a scoreless first period, the Fighting Scots jumped in front on a Central own goal less than seven minutes into the second period. Bailey evened the score nearly four minutes later, assisted by midfielder Gabrielle Muse (junior, Waukee). In its second game, Central dominated shorthanded Iowa Wesleyan 15-0 on Saturday afternoon. Bailey, who was on field for less than 20 minutes, scored two goals in a 59-second span. The first was assisted by midfielder Hannah Davy (senior, Cottage Grove, Minn., Park HS) and the second was unassisted, as Bailey dribbled through the defense from near midfield.

Bailey leads the conference in goals (9) and points (19), both three better than the next closest player.

Central (6-2) returns to the pitch on Thursday against Cornell (3-3) at 4 p.m. on the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field.
