Assistant Coach Named to National Committee

Oskaloosa–William Penn Assistant Football Coach Aaron Hinnah recently spent time with other coaches around the nation in hopes of improving their sport.

Hinnah, who is in his sixth year on the Statesmen staff and currently works with the receivers, was recently named to the AFCA/NAIA Assistant Coaches Committee. At last week’s AFCA Coaches Convention, he attended a meeting as well as performed outreach activities.

At the meeting, committee members discussed a variety of issues facing the NAIA as a whole as well as coaches within the Association, including having an eighth referee for games, playoff system travel concerns, and the championship game rebidding process.

The group also visited the Boys and Girls Club of Nashville. The first annual event included doing simple instruction and drill work with youth as well as having dinner and giving them some apparel.

“The entire experience, including the work with the Boys and Girls Club, was truly rewarding,” Hinnah said. “I am glad that I had the opportunity to work with my peers and give back through the AFCA organization.”
