Annual Trail Walk/Run for the Red Cross on October 1
Local American Red Cross volunteers are holding the annual Run for the Red on the Oskaloosa trail on Saturday October 1st in support of the local Red Cross Disaster Services and Armed Forces Emergency Services. This will be the 6th year for the event which is a 5Kwalk/run and 10K run beginning and ending on the Oskaloosa trail, just north of the Oskaloosa High School.
You can get a registration for walk/run in several ways. The form can be downloaded from www.fitnesssports.com, email vkendall1015@hotmail.com, or call 641-673-6127. You can also pick up a form at the Red Cross office at 500 High Ave. West in Oskaloosa.
The entry fee through September 30th is $20 and includes a t-shirt and refreshments. The fee on race day is $25.
Packet pick-up starts race day at 7:30am at the Oskaloosa High School. The race/walk starts at 9:00am. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers per age group, and plaques are awarded to overall male and female winners.
This event is organized by Red Cross volunteers to help raise the dollars needed to support their work of providing food, shelter, and clothing for fire victims, and to support emergency communications for members of the armed forces and their families. Red Cross volunteers provide these emergency services 24 hours a day.
