American Red Cross is Calling for Heroes of the Heartland Nominations
The Ottumwa Office is seeking nominations for local event.
OTTUMWA, IA. February 6, 2011 — Do you know someone who has performed an extraordinary act of courage or dedicated countless hours to a special cause? The American Red Cross in Ottumwa is looking for common citizens, the unheralded and unselfish pillars of our community.
Nominations for the Heroes of the Heartland event in Ottumwa are being taken now for local recognition events. The Red Cross is depending on the public to nominate individuals that have performed an extraordinary act of courage or has put in countless hours to a special cause. Nomination forms can be found on-line at www.southernprairie.redcross.org, may be picked up at the Red Cross office in Ottumwa, and are available at all BP, Elliott Oil Co. locations.
“There are Heroes walking among us everyday—the people who put others above themselves—and it is our pleasure to honor ordinary people for doing extraordinary things,” said Steve Barnett, Chapter Support Officer, American Red Cross.
Nominations will be accepted now through February 29, 2012. Nominations may be mailed to the American Red Cross Ottumwa office, 408 E Main Street, Ottumwa, IA 52501, or faxed to (641) 682-1359.
The Heroes of the Heartland Event helps support programs and services of the American Red Cross.
