Allan R. Gonzalez, 56, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home in Oskaloosa.

Allan was born December 1, 1957, in Indianola, Iowa, the son of Milton Al and Charlotte Lucille Throckmorton Gonzalez. He attended school in Indianola. He was united in marriage to Nancy Champeau, they later divorced.

Allan did construction work most of his life for various contractors. He worked for many years for Eldon Zook as a foreman. He retired due to ill health in 2002.

He enjoyed being on the computer. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren.

His family includes his two children and their spouses, Jodie and Charles Sirovy of Oskaloosa and Joseph and Patty Gonzalez of Owatonna, Minnesota; three granddaughters, Samantha Sirovy, Katelyn Sirovy, and Rebecca Sirovy; his ex-wife, Nancy Champeau-Wendler of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and an aunt, Norma Sinclair of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Hood; and a sister, Shirley Hood.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
Private family burial will be held in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Indianola on Wednesday. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Tuesday after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Shady Lodge.
