Visitation: will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at Cuba Cemetery South of Eddyville, Iowa; a procession will leave the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m.
Alice passed away Wednesday morning a the Maple Ridge Assisted Living Facility.
Alice Allie Nelson, daughter of Frank and Helen Bajec Kristoff, was born March 4, 1912 in Buxton, Iowa. She married George Franklin and they had three sons, William, Robert and George Jr. Alice and George later divorced and Alice moved to Chicago. May 7, 1955, Alice married Harvey Nelson. Alice was a homemaker her entire life, she enjoyed cooking, crocheting and growing flowers. Alice lived in Chicago more than 50 years, but always considered Iowa her home. She returned to Iowa April 25 to be closer to her family.
Alice’s family includes her grandchildren: Helen and Gene Kline of Albia, Robert Franklin of Florida, Janet DeMoss of Eddyville, Lynn and Gary Kaser of California, Billy Franklin of Glenwood, IA, and Alice and Rex Critchlow of Oskaloosa; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by three sons: William “Bill”, Robert in infancy, and George Franklin, Jr.; her husband, Harvey; two brothers: Louis and Frank Kristoff; two sisters: Peggy Carter and Helen Gibb; a grandchild, Diane Franklin and a great grandchild, Travis J. West.
