A Giving Community

The Lacey Recreation Trail

The MCRF has gratefully received lately from community clubs, grants, and helpers along the community trail! The Mahaska County Community Foundation awarded a grant for $7,250 recently to complete a wildflower prairie along the trail. When fully grown, trail users will be able to see beautiful wildflowers along the trail, and in one area on either side of the trail, so that you can experience riding or walking directly through wildflower prairie!

To assist in keeping the trail beautiful, MCRF has many who adopt-a mile to clean, or choose to clean an area for a project. The 1st Christian Reformed Church did just that recently when their youth group cleaned an area on the south side of town near Market Street. About 30 volunteers showed up and cleared the section of debris and other obstacles, leaving a beautiful area for walking and riding the trail!

MCRF also hosted an annual membership meeting recently where the board learned that the Oskaloosa Rotary Club would generously donate the paving of the driveway to the Rotary Club Gazebo (Highway 92) on the Recreation Trail!

The community trail is well-used and nurtured, thanks to the many helping hands!
