Seward, Neb.–A handful of members of the William Penn track and field teams were unsuccessful in their final attempts to join the national qualifier list at the Concordia Twilight Meet Friday.

Having already qualified for this month’s national championships, Gabriel Green (Sr., Anniston, Ala., Business Management) was hoping to add the 200-meter dash to his list, while Jalen Wilson (So., Desoto, Texas, Undecided) was looking to keep the rust off in the long jump.

Green just missed the mark in the 200 with a third-place finish of 21.96 seconds, while Wilson also claimed the bronze at 23-2.75.

The men’s 4×100-meter squad of Green, Wilson, Kederick Givens (Fr., Wylie, Texas, Communications), and Sam Taylor (So., Eddyville, Iowa, Industrial Technology) placed fourth with a time of 42.71 seconds.

Taylor finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.10 seconds. Givens also competed in the 200, taking seventh at 22.45 seconds.

Jazmine Epps (Fr., Princeton, Texas) was WPU’s lone female competitor, placing fifth in the long jump at 17-5.5.

Next: Green (100-meter dash), Wilson (long jump), and Meaghan Foster (Fr., Centerville, Iowa, Undecided) (shot put) will compete at the NAIA National Championships in Marion, Ind. from May 23-25.
