Jury Selection Continues In Murder Trial

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The jury selection continues this afternoon in the First Degree Murder case against Bradley William Arterburn. Arterburn is accused in the stabbing death of 58-year-old Robert Henry Horovitz. The Oskaloosa Police Department was dispatched to 1106 North 4th Street, Oskaloosa, Iowa on June 19th, 2011 at approximately 8:30 pm in response to the report of a stabbing.

Upon officers arrival, Horovitz, of Davenport, Iowa, was found inside the residence suffering from multiple injuries.

Officers also located 25-year-old Bradley William Arterburn near the residence. Arterburn was found to be suffering from what is believed to be self-inflicted wounds.

Both Individuals were transported to the Mahaska Health Partnership. Arterburn was then flown to a Des Moines hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Oskaloosa Police Chief Jake McGee spoke about the weapon that was used in the murder in an earlier interview. He described the weapon as a ‘Battle Axe’ that was common in the Medieval Era. These types of weapons were designed for combat, with some designs of the axe requiring the use of both hands and having a weight of up to six pounds.

Arterburn has been charged with First Degree Murder, that is a Class “A” Felony which is punishable by life in prison.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
