Missoula Children’s Theatre Presents The Tortoise Versus The Hare
OSKALOOSA, IA – Back in Oskaloosa for their 12th consecutive year, the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will work with Oskaloosa students to put on a production of The Tortoise Versus The Hare. MCT is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for 38 years from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,300 communities this year.
The tour team arrives in Oskaloosa with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play… except the cast. The team held an open audition on Jan. 16th and cast 50-60 local students from Kindergarten to 12th grade to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week with two public performances on Saturday. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project.
The Tortoise Versus The Hare will be at George Daily Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 21st with performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets cost $4 for students and $8 for adults and are available by calling 641-672-0799 or online at www.georgedaily.org.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre is based in Missoula, Montana, and also runs many local programs, including musical theatre day camps and performing arts classes for local children, a summer residency Performing Arts Camp and the MCT Community Theatre. For students interested in a career in the performing arts, MCT has developed Next Step Prep—The Academy for Musical Theatre—providing high school students an affordable opportunity to train and study with well-known professionals in the field of music, dance and acting to
