Family Nurse Practitioner Melissa Lamb, ARNP, named the 2011 MHP MVP

MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership Medical Staff has named Family Nurse Practitioner Melissa Lamb, ARNP, the 2011 MHP MVP.
“Choosing just one provider to honor from our outstanding Medical Staff is no easy task,” MHP CEO Jay Christensen said. “However, each year the team chooses a very deserving candidate. Melissa has been an integral part of the MHP team since joining us in 2006 and we’re very lucky to have her.”
Lamb was recognized by her peers for her dedication to making healthcare personal for each of her patients, young and old. “Patients frequently comment about Melissa going above and beyond to a make a difference in their lives,” MHP’s Chief Medical Officer Matt Whitis, MD, explained.
Lamb practices fulltime at MHP’s New Sharon Medical Center, located on Main Street. She treats patients of all ages for primary care needs such as illness or injury and annual preventive care. Recently, patients have recognized Lamb on patient satisfaction comments including, “Melissa makes you feel like she really cares and like she is family;” “Our family loves New Sharon Medical Center and all the staff;” “Very very good. I will go back to Melissa in a heartbeat!”
Whitis also mentioned Lamb’s volunteerism as a reason for her award. “Melissa is a regular volunteer at the Oskaloosa Free Clinic, she provides valuable education to youth throughout the New Sharon community, she attends sporting events to be available in case an athlete is injured and she participates in many community outreach events as well as committees within MHP.”
Lamb received her award at MHP’s Annual Provider Appreciation Dinner, held Dec. 12. Many providers were honored at the Oscar-themed event with special awards such as “Best Comedic Performance,” “Best Supporting Voiceover,” and “Up and Coming Award.” In addition, 19 members of the Medical Staff were awarded the “Partnership Award” for going above and beyond through activities such as serving on committees and mentoring medical students.
“It is my honor to congratulate our 2011 award recipients and to work alongside them every day,” Christensen said. “I am humbled by all they do to make healthcare personal, often sacrificing their personal time to be here when patients need them most. As we look toward the New Year, I am thankful for the strides our Medical Staff has made and look forward to our continued partnership in the years to come.”
