Tom and Judy celebrated their 50th anniversary with family in Hannibal, MO, in July of this year. Tom and Judy lived in Davenport while Tom attended St. Ambrose College, where he earned his undergraduate degree. Their first born child Daniel Slay Bowen was born in Davenport in 1962. The family then moved to Milwaukee, WI, where Tom attended medical school at Marquette University and achieved his Medical Doctorate Degree. Daughter Susan L. Bowen (Peace) was born in Milwaukee in 1965. The Bowen family moved to Spokane, WA, in 1966, where Tom did his internship at Sacred Heart Hospital. In 1968, Tom was drafted into the U. S. Army. After the family moved back to Oskaloosa, Captain Bowen was deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. During his deployment, their second daughter Brenda L. Bowen (Bell) was born in 1969. Upon returning home, Tom was stationed in Seattle, WA, where Judy and family joined him. The Bowens moved to the Springfield, MO, area in 1972, where Tom worked in the Emergency Room at St. John’s hospital for 5 years before entering into private practice as a partner at Smith-Glynn-Calloway Clinic in 1977. The Bowens settled on 20 acres in Strafford, MO, in 1974 where Tom and Judy saw all three children graduate high school. Tom was with SGCC until retirement in 1996. Tom and Judy moved to Solon in 2010 where they could be near their grandchildren, Jack and Liam Bell.
