Bug Day! at Russell Wildlife Area
Hop, flutter and crawl to Bug Day at the Russell Wildlife Area on Saturday, August 6 anytime between 10:00 am – noon! The Mahaska County Conservation Board is hosting this fun and unique event for kids 12 and younger to learn first-hand about insects. Once registered at the conservation center, kids can migrate like a monarch butterfly, decorate bug cookies, investigate pond bugs, have a bug painted on their face and more! By completing all the activities, kids will receive their “Degree of Bugology” for participating. This free event will be held rain or shine.
The Russell Wildlife Area is located 4 miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 then one mile east on 200th Street. For more information, contact Laura DeCook, Mahaska County Conservation Naturalist, at (641)673-9327.
