Glen Jackson, 46, of Grinnell died April 11, 2011, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Congregational Church in Marshalltown, Manitoqua Ministries, or the Casa Viva Initiative.
Glen was born August 10, 1964, in Marshalltown to Joe and Carolyn Jackson. He was raised and educated there where he was constantly on the local police department’s radar until graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1983. He went on to the University of Northern Iowa where he received his BA and Masters degrees. He taught at postsecondary level in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Florida before his illness forced him to retire in 2010. He loved teaching and missed it greatly upon his retirement.
Glen enjoyed reading, film, live music, flying, travel and booze. He was also passionate about live theatre and participated in community theatre activities. Glen was greatly amused by farts and was often heard to say “Who farted?” He loved to laugh at himself as much as at others.
He is survived by three sisters, Anna Jackson, Carol Galloway and Chrissy Hand; five nieces and nephews; a great-aunt and several cousins.
