Shelter Awareness Day of Service Projects Happening in Southeast Iowa
Shelter Coordinators of youth and family, domestic violence, and homeless shelters across Iowa are joining together to raise awareness and enlist volunteers for the 4th annual Shelter Awareness Day, which will be held in conjunction with National Volunteer Week, April 10-16, 2011. This official Iowa Day of Service will be observed on April 16, 2011 in conjunction with National Volunteer Week. Iowans are encouraged to volunteer for service projects in their community or donate needed items at shelters across Iowa. Below is a project happening in Southeast Iowa around April 16, 2011.

WHAT:
Crisis Intervention Services is requesting for community volunteers to help us with the spring cleaning at their shelter and transitional housing. Volunteers will be cleaning and organizing the shelter garage and transitional housing shed, as well as picking up the yard and flower beds to get ready for spring planting.
WHEN:
April 17
Volunteers are being asked to participate from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
