Nwachukwu Earns Second-Team Academic All-America Honor

Oskaloosa–Adaugo Nwachukwu (Jr., San Jose, Calif., Exercise Science) was chosen as one of the top scholar-athletes in the NAIA as the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Women’s At-Large teams were announced Tuesday.

Nwachukwu was one of 10 individuals named to the Second Team, while an additional 14 players from various sports collected First-Team recognition.

Nwachukwu, who is the first Academic All-American in William Penn women’s wrestling history, went 21-0 this past season with all 21 victories coming via bonus points (15 technical falls, six falls), including pinning her way through the NAIA National Championship. She was also named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year.

The USA Wrestling Women’s College Wrestler of the Year, she also earned a bid to the US Olympic Trials.

Nwachukwu is the 19th CSC Academic All-American in William Penn athletics history and the second this year.

The prestigious award from CSC (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America) recognizes athletes for their performances on the field and in the classroom.

To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average. Additional competition criteria is also required.
