84th Osky Relays Continue Tradition

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Osky Relays could have potentially seen it’s final run at the old Community Stadium in Oskaloosa as the new facility nears completion. The day started off cool, damp and overcast. Those conditions proved just right to break multiple meet records.

The 84th Osky Relays were dedicated to the memory of Coach Clark Holthaus, who passed away in November 2011.

12 boys teams and 11 girls teams took part, with the smaller schools in a separate class. In addition to Oskaloosa, there were teams from Centerville, Nevada, Pella, South Tama, Williamsburg, Belle Plaine, BGM, Montezuma, North Mahaska, Pella Christian, Sigourney and Twin Cedars.

Oskaloosa Boys Track Coach Mike Sterner said that, “Our boys competed very well on Saturday, coming in 2nd to a very deep Pella team. We are very excited with Season’s Bests in 5 of the 6 relays possible and 35 Individual Personal Record Bests in events. Thanks to all who came out to support the Boys and Girls Track & Field teams this weekend!”
