7th Grade Girls Volleyball Improves Record At Grinnell

The 7th grade girls’ volleyball team traveled to Grinnell last night where they improved their record to 3-0 with a 4-1 win. The scores were 11-15, 15-11, 15-10, 15-10, 15-6, and 15-9. The team was led by Sophia Dykstra with 12 aces, Abby Braundmeier and Jillian Jennings with 6, MaKenna Schaffner with 5, and Hayle Hacker and Kaylee Johnson with 4 a piece.

The B team earned its first victory on the year with a 4-1 showing. The scores were 15-8, 15-5, 16-14, 13-15, and 15-12. The team was led by Samara Shilling with 11 aces, followed by Katelynn Moore with 9, Kiara Bjornson with 6, Jazmine Chavez with 5, Cecilia Nicolas with 3 and Linnette Ramirez and Kiki Lawrence with one apiece.

The C team battled hard, but came out on the losing end 1-4. The scores were 15-10, 11-15, 6-15, 9-15, and 5-15. The team was led by Lauren Milledge and Rachel Rice with 2 aces followed by Kerrie Anderson and Ryan Meeth with 1 apiece.

The D team also earned their first victory of the year with a 3-2 win. The scores were 15-12, 11-15, 14-16, 15-7, and 15-13. The team was led by Makayla Covey with 9 aces, Jaysa Goodwin with 5, Sariyah Clayton and Hailey Gladson with 1 apiece.

We are very pleased with how the girls continue to grow and improve each day. It was exciting for our teams to earn their first victories and look forward to getting another one against Pella on Thursday night.
