39-Year-Old Woman Found Deceased At Campground

On Sunday, August 20th, 2017, at approximately 12 noon, members of the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the campgrounds located at Lake Keomah State Park in reference to a deceased subject. Upon Deputies’ arrival, it was discovered that a 39-year-old female camper had passed away inside her tent.

After the preliminary investigation, Sheriff’s Officials do not suspect foul play in this death. The body has been sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for autopsy. The identity of the subject is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by members of the Mahaska Health Partnership and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The Investigation into this death is continuing.
