WPU Ranked #5 in Final Poll

Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s lacrosse team will enter the NAIA National Invitational as a major contender as the NAIA’s final top-10 poll was released Sunday.

WPU (16-2, 4-1 Heart), which won the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship title Saturday, is #5 with 67 points.

The Statesmen will open the Invitational against #4 seed and #4 ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) on May 8 at 11 a.m. in Savannah, Ga.

William Penn is one of three representatives from the Heart of America Athletic Conference that are in the poll. Benedictine has jumped into the top 10 at #10, while St. Ambrose is in the receiving votes section at #13 unofficially.

Reinhardt heads to the Invitational as the top-ranked squad in the nation with 82 points and all seven first-place votes. Keiser (Fla.) is second and Webber International (Fla.) is third to round out the top five.
