Oskaloosa Cross Country Teams Compete at Van Buren Invitational
The Oskaloosa cross country teams returned to competition Tuesday at the Van Buren Invitational after their original meet was canceled. The Indians adjusted quickly and delivered strong performances on a challenging course.
“I was happy with how we competed,” Oskaloosa coach said. “Our original meet was cancelled and we were fortunate to get into this meet. I felt the team handled the change well, especially on a tough and challenging course.”
The Oskaloosa boys finished second as a team behind Fairfield. Fairfield scored 40 points, while Oskaloosa finished with 51 points.
Lane Smith led the way for the Indians, winning the boys race with a time of 17:04.
“Lane took the lead right away and then dropped the field in the middle,” the coach said. “He had a nice race.”
Kellen Kauzlarich also had a strong performance, finishing with a time of 19:10.
“Kellen Kauzlarich had a really great race for us as well that helped solidify 2nd place,” the coach said.
Other Oskaloosa boys results included Abel Larson with an 18:13, Micah Van Ee at 18:32, Silas Johnston at 19:40, Ian Rosvold at 19:42, and Zach Terpstra at 19:54.
Carter Bonnett finished in 20:07, followed by Gyden Walker at 20:27, Coen Knudtson at 21:11, Colton Hynick at 21:32, Parker Russell at 22:24, Liam Wroblewski at 22:33, Evan Allison at 24:44, and Alex Godejohn at 28:54.
The girls team finished third overall with 72 points. Van Buren won the team title with 60 points, followed by Fairfield with 64.
Olivia Doll led a strong effort for the Indians, delivering a season-best performance.
“Olivia Doll came up huge for us with a massive season best,” the coach said. “Really proud of her for how she competed.”
Hazel Adam and Payton Clark continued their consistent performances, while Mia Luck battled through another solid race.
Oskaloosa girls results included Payton Clark with a time of 22:25, Hazel Adam at 22:30, Olivia Doll at 22:46, Mia Luck at 23:32, Kate McBurney at 23:55, Sabrina Frost at 24:05, Serigha Lappin at 25:04, and Ella Walter at 25:22.
The Indians will return to action next Monday at the Chariton Invitational as they continue preparing for the postseason portion of the schedule.
