Oskaloosa 7th Grade Volleyball Teams Earn Three Wins Against Ottumwa
The Oskaloosa seventh grade volleyball teams hosted Ottumwa last Thursday for a night filled with competitive matches, strong serving, and teamwork. Three of the four Osky teams earned victories, with players continuing to show improvement and determination on the court.
The A1 team started the night with a strong performance, winning the opening set 25-21. Paisley Doud led the offense with three kills and two aces, while Willow Hahn-Lefler and Alivia Johnson each added an ace.
Ottumwa responded in the second set, earning a 25-19 victory despite strong serving from Oskaloosa. Willow Hahn-Lefler recorded three aces, while Emelia Stewart added two. The match went to a deciding third set, where both teams battled closely before Ottumwa secured a 15-13 win. Doud added another kill, while Aubrey Vance recorded two aces.
The A2 team showed strong resilience after dropping the first set 25-17. Oskaloosa responded with a dominant second set, winning 25-14 behind nine ace serves. Ava Kenney led the way with three aces, while Addi Sille, Loryce Lammers, and Aurora Cramer each contributed two.
With the match tied, A2 carried its momentum into the deciding set and earned a 15-10 victory. Loryce Lammers added three more aces, while Addi Sille recorded two to help secure the win.
The B1 team delivered a strong performance, winning both sets against Ottumwa. Oskaloosa won the first set 21-12 and followed with a 21-10 victory in the second set.
Gabby Larson provided strong defensive play throughout the match, making key digs and passes to keep the team in position. Khloee Watts helped push the team toward the first-set win with a six-point serving run. In the second set, the team’s communication and confidence helped them close out the match, with Megan Lobe’s serving helping seal the victory.
The B2 team battled through another exciting three-set match. Oskaloosa took the opening set 21-18 before Ottumwa answered with a 21-18 win in the second set. In the deciding third set, the Osky girls came through with a 15-8 victory to claim the match.
Kailani Norrish delivered a key serve to finish the match, which coaches called her best serve of the season. Leah Bock also had an impressive serving run that helped keep pressure on the Ottumwa defense.
The seventh grade volleyball teams will continue their season Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they host Norwalk.
