Mahaska Health Welcomes Community to Annual Women’s Health Night

Mahaska Health will host its annual Women’s Health Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13th, at Gateway Church in Oskaloosa. The event will feature health presentations, a panel discussion, dinner and free health screenings.
Mahaska Health invites community members in Oskaloosa and surrounding areas to attend an evening of health information, fellowship, food, and community. The annual Women’s Health Night recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October. This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, October 13, from 5 to 8 pm at Gateway Church in Oskaloosa. Pre-registration is encouraged.
The evening will begin with a dinner followed by presentations, a panel discussion, and free health screenings. Experts from Mahaska Health will present on topics such as mammography, medical imaging, general surgery, ob-gyn, cancer care, surgical oncology, and family medicine.

“Women’s Health Night is an opportunity to bring our community together and encourage women to take an active role in their health,” shared Dr. Jesse Van Maanen, Mahaska Health Surgery Medical Director. “It’s a chance for people to ask questions and gain understanding outside a clinic or hospital setting. Through education and conversation, we hope to empower women to prioritize preventative care and make informed medical decisions year-round.”
The expert panel will include Mahaska Health medical leaders and partnering specialists: Dr. Jesse Van Maanen, Surgery Medical Director; Dr. Daniel Kollmorgen, Oncology Medical Director; Dr. Timothy Breon, Chief Medical Officer; Dr. John Pargulski, Cardiology Medical Director; Dr. Kiron Nair, Medical Oncology Medical Director; Dr. Taylar Swartz Summers, OB, Birthing Center & GYN Co-Medical Director; Dr. Garth Summers, OB, Birthing Center & GYN Co-Medical Director; and Dr. Aminata Traore, Radiologist with Radiologic Medical Services in Iowa City.
