Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s golf team will play alongside two schools from the Bluegrass State for the first two rounds of the 25th NAIA National Championships as the pairings were announced Friday.

William Penn, which enters the Championships ranked 18th in the NAIA, is making its sixth-straight nationals appearance. The event will be held Tuesday-Friday, May 14-17 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Okla.

For the first two rounds, the Statesmen will be paired with #23 Lindsey Wilson and unranked Midway, both of which are from Kentucky. The trio will begin Tuesday’s opening round by teeing off on Hole #1 at 1:50 p.m. They then return to action Wednesday by teeing off on Hole #10 at 8:54 a.m.

It will be the first time WPU will be facing either squad this year.

William Penn, which won the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships two weeks ago, owns a current team average of 313.8 over 23 rounds with a school-record low of 292. Elise Warne (Sr., Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) tops the navy and gold with a GolfStat adjusted scoring average of 77.3 to rank 41st. Brittany Evans (Jr., Fernley, Nev., Business Management) is also in GolfStat’s ranking in 79th at 78.1.

The Statesmen won seven tournaments this regular season.

Lindsey Wilson, which is a member of the Mid-South Conference, earned one of the 11 at-large bids to nationals. The Blue Raiders finished third in the MSC Tournament. LWU, which owns a 315.9 team average, won two tournament crowns this year.

Midway, which is 48th in the GolfStat rankings, won the River States Conference Tournament to earn its nationals berth. The Eagles’ league title is its only one of the season.
