WPU Opens Campaign at Grand View Open

Pleasant Hill–The Statesmen wrestling team got action underway Saturday as it competed at the Grand View Open.
The event was split into two separate divisions–Open and Freshman/Sophomore.
133-pounder Darquell Pierre (Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla., Sociology) headlined the navy and gold by placing fifth in the Open division with a 2-2 record.
Sheldon Rodriguez (Jr., Tampa, Fla., Biology) also claimed a win in Open competition, while Justin Gericke (Fr., Wasilla, Alaska) pinned one foe in the 184-pound weight class of the FR/SO division.
Next Up: William Penn travels to Forest City next Tuesday to face Waldorf in a non-conference dual at 6 p.m.
