WPU Competes at Kansas Relays

Lawrence, Kan.–The top individuals from the Statesmen track and field teams traveled south to battle at the prestigious Kansas Relays Friday and Saturday.
William Penn recorded a trio of top-10 finishes, headlined by the men’s 4×100-meter relay team placing fourth with a time of 42.00 seconds. The squad was even faster in the preliminary round with a time of 41.68.
High jumpers Vashti Nwagbaraocha (Sr., Milwaukee, Wis., Exercise Science) and Mofiyinfoluwa Alade (So., Hoffman Estates, Ill.) were also in the top 10. Nwagbaraocha took eighth in the women’s event at 5-5, while Alade placed ninth at 6-5.
Tyler Albert (Sr., Eldon, Iowa, Engineering Technology), with a 17th-place finish in the javelin at 160-8, and Tristen Elmore (Jr., Ovied, Fla., Physical Education), with a time of 10.79 seconds in the 100-meter dash (21st overall), also fared well at the Relays.
“This was probably our best overall performance at the Relays with three top-10 finishes,” Head Coach Allen Friesen said. “I could not be happier about how we competed over the last two days.”
Next Up: William Penn travels to Kirksville, Mo. next Wednesday to compete in the Truman Quad.
