WPU Alumni Music Extravaganza
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Homecoming weekend at William Penn University evokes a sense of community in students, faculty, staff, and alumni alike, and WPU Choir and Band is working with musical alumni to set the tune for a weekend of fun!
Music alumni and family members, friends, faculty and staff of William Penn have dusted off their instruments, wetted their reeds, and practiced their vocal scales to join the choir and band for a memorable musical weekend. On Friday, October 28 the group will be featured at a Meet & Greet Music Showcase and Jam Session at Smokey Row, 109 South Market Street, from 7:30-11:00 p.m.
On Saturday the 29th, all interested parties will register at the McGrew Fine Arts Building from 8:00-10:00 a.m. to start a day of good-spirited rehearsal directed by Paul Carpenter, Ron Lipka, David Evans, Bruce Peiffer and Terry DeJong. The WPU instrumentalists will perform with the William Penn Marching Band at halftime of the homecoming football game held at the Community Stadium of the Lacey Complex.
Music provided by the WPU Choir and Jazz Band will follow the 6:00 p.m. post-game dinner at the American Legion, 302 High Avenue East, and music for the dance will be provided by the WPU Jazz Alumni from 7:30-10:00 p.m.
The choir will perform Sunday the 30th during the worship service at College Avenue Friends Church, 912 North C Street, with an Alumni Farewell Reception following at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
