Pella–The Statesmen wrestling team picked up a pair of upper-weight victories, but struggled the remainder of the night in a 42-6 non-conference dual meet loss to Central Tuesday.

WPU (2-9) fell in the first seven matches of the evening to the Dutch (4-4), finally getting on the board at 184 pounds when Jay Fresh (Grad., Knoxville, Iowa, MBL) slipped by Wayne Sommer 3-2.

After another setback at 197 pounds, the navy and gold closed out the meet with a 4-2 victory by Max Lewis (So., Duchesne, Utah, Biology) over Steven Candley.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Marshall, Mo. Saturday to compete in the Missouri Valley Open. Action begins at 9 a.m.
