William Penn University To Present Last Of Chautauqua Series Lectures For The Academic Year
Oskaloosa, Iowa – William Penn University will present the last of its Chautauqua Series lectures for the 2011 – 2012 academic year on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Local engineer and American Civil War history enthusiast Jerry Bottenfield will give a presentation on the “Conspiracy and Assassination of 1865” starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Chief Mahaska Room, located in the Dana Atkins Memorial Union building. The public is invited to attend this in-depth look at the conspiracy surrounding the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln including how John Wilkes Booth developed his team of nearly 20 conspirators. The presentation follows the story up through the capture and subsequent punishment of those that worked together to assassinate one of our country’s greatest leaders.This event is free and open to the public.
