William Penn Holds Campus Clean-Up

Oskaloosa, Iowa – It’s that time of year again! Homecoming 2011 is just around the corner, and the William Penn Student Government Association (SGA) is organizing efforts to make the Oskaloosa campus shine! This year’s fall Campus Beautification Day (CBD) is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
CBD is a bi-yearly campus-wide improvement effort. SGA sponsors the event and organizes efforts of the William Penn community. Each year the Maintenance Department and professors with veteran gardening and home improvement experience coordinate the more technical aspects of mulch transportation and dispersal, replanting and pruning of greenery, and instances of more significant landscaping. Volunteers pick up trash, pull weeds, and spread mulch around trees and flower beds.
As part of their yearly service requirements, all student organizations lend their time and effort to the improvement of campus. Several faculty and staff members and friends of William Penn volunteer their Saturday morning to the cause as well. William Penn athletic teams are often encouraged by their coaches to attend and show up in force to help beautify campus in time for the eventful homecoming week.
This year’s fall CBD will kick off Saturday the 22nd at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers will meet in front of the Penn Activity Center (PAC) doors on the circle drive been the PAC and Penn Hall where SGA members will organize the Statesmen effort to clean up campus!
