William Penn Gains Two Spots to #14

Oskaloosa–Although it lost once last week, the Statesmen men’s soccer team actually moved up the national list as the NAIA released its fifth top-25 poll Wednesday.

Its 3-2 setback to #1 Central Methodist last Saturday was obviously a ‘good’ one in the eyes of the raters as WPU (9-3, 4-1 Heart) has a new program-best ranking of #14 with 294 points.

The navy and gold are now the second highest-ranked representatives from the Heart of America Athletic Conference. CMU is still #1, while Baker has fallen to #16 and Missouri Valley is down to #19. Grand View is holding in the receiving votes section as well with an unofficial mark of #29.

Central Methodist has 16 of the NAIA’s first-place votes, while Columbia (Mo.) is second with the final two first-place ballots. For the second week in a row, William Carey (Miss.), Westmont (Calif.), and Hastings (Neb.) again round out the top five.
