William Penn Falls Short in High Scoring Game
Oskaloosa- In an intense run-and-gun showing, William Penn falls short to Grinnell, 150-137.
William Penn stuck with Grinnell until about four minutes left in play when the Pioneers took a 10 point lead, and the Statesmen never regained. The Statesmen shot 64% (55-86) from the field, and 43.8% (7-16) from the arc.
Two players finished with a double-double, Arman Rasul (Jr., Chicago, Ill., Illinois-Chicago) had 37 points and 13 rebounds and Alan Douglas (Sr., Champaign, Ill., Lakeland CC) had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
William Penn’s other high scorer was Blake Walker (So., Rose Garden, Ga., Campbell HS) with 32 points and nine rebounds. While Taylor Stoutner (Jr., Keota, Keota HS) contributed 22 points, followed by Austin Emerson (Jr., Des Moines, Southwestern CC) with 12 points.
The Statesmen also finished with 29 assists and 49 rebounds for the game. Both Douglas and Davis Spielbauer (Jr., Wapello, Wapello HS) finished with five assists apiece.
Rounding out the scoring for William Penn was Erik McGee with nine points and Spielbauer with five points. Both, LaBradford Williams (Jr., Kokomo, Ind., Brown Mackie) and Trae Hill (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., McCluer HS) contributed four points apiece.
