Seddon’s Wins Net Second Laurel

Oskaloosa–Derek Seddon (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) utilized another big day to be named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week Monday.

Seddon, now a two-time weekly recipient, won twice and posted another top-10 effort at the Central Methodist Invitational. The junior took the discus (174-10) and shot put (46-3.5) crowns and was 10th in the hammer (117-0).

Seddon has qualified for NAIA Nationals in both the discus and shot put; he is ranked second in the nation in the discus (174-10) and 15th in the shot put (50-6). Within the league, the junior is first in the discus and shot put and fourth in the hammer (159-10).

The award is the sixth for the men’s program this year (four track, two field).

Third Career Accolade to Lundsgaard

Oskaloosa–After taking home the title last week, Frederik Lundsgaard (So., Jebjerg, Denmark, History/Government) won yet again as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week Monday.

Lundsgaard notched his third career honor by finishing first out of 40 players at the Mike “Fluff” Cowan Intercollegiate hosted by William Penn. The sophomore carded a pair of 73’s for a final score of 146, three strokes ahead of the next-closest competitor.

A four-time career tournament winner, Lundsgaard currently owns a 76.0 stroke average over 22 rounds. A total of 20 of those rounds have been in the 70s, topped by shooting 71 twice.

The award is the second of the year for the program.

Fletcher Claims POW Award

Oskaloosa–Brooke Fletcher (So., Atlantic, Iowa, Business Management) picked up a links title last week and her performance netted her Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week honors Monday.

Fletcher earned her first weekly accolade by topping the 55-player field at the Mike “Fluff” Cowan Intercollegiate hosted by William Penn with a 161 (81-80). The sophomore, who was playing for WPU’s second team, won the event by two strokes; the 161 is the lowest two-day score of her career.

Fletcher’s title is her first at the collegiate level. She currently owns an 83.9 stroke average over 16 rounds, highlighted by a career best of 78.

The award is the fourth of the year for the program.
