William “Butch” Helleur III, 72 of Centerville passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Butch was born to William Henry Jr. and Betty (Shiffer) Helleur in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 6, 1945.

Butch received his education from Centerville schools graduating in 1963. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served four years.

Butch was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Kaye Lee Washburn on October 10, 1964.

When Butch returned from the service he completed a two year Automotive Technical Degree at Indian Hills Community College.

Later, he and his brother worked together running Helleur’s Automotive in Centerville until retirement.

After retirement Butch was active in the VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles Club. He also enjoyed old cars, fishing, shooting guns, and spending time with family.

Butch is survived by his children: Deborah Suzanne (& Rod) Richards of Oskaloosa, Amy Jo (& Kevin) Yardley of Ottumwa, Michael Todd (& Brandi) Helleur of Fremont and Cari Lee (& Don) Hubbard of North Port Florida; his grandchildren: Dennis (& fiancée Paula) Richards, Bridgette Richards, Zandra (& Jeremiah) Fry, Nikki Stock, Carson Helleur, and Anthony Fridley, Tyler (& Dakota) Silvers, Brady (& fiancée Amanda) Silvers, Andrew Silvers, and Kyle Silvers. Courtney (fiancé Taylor) Crall, Brandon Crall, Zachary Crall, Angelica Hubbard and Alayna (& Josh) Boer; great grandchildren: Aden and Avery Silvers, Hayden Stoddard, Kynzleigh Richards, Nathaniel, Donovan, and Erin Fry, Koy and Kaden Pollock, Elly Boer, Braxton Lovell and Maverick Townsend. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis (& Helen) Helleur of Cincinnati; sisters in law: Lorie (& Gary Wade) Demry of Illinois and Lynn (& Dennis) Cronk of Florida; half-sister in law, Helen (& Jim) Dobson of North Carolina; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye; his parents; and his mother and father in law, Kaye and Hugh Washburn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
Interment will be in White Cemetery near Cincinnati.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Humble Heroes Foundation.
