Washington Too Much For Oskaloosa

by Nick Coffey

This Monday we played away at Washington. It was a close game for the first 20 minutes of play and we had a few opportunities in the first half to score but didn’t capitalize. The girls battled all game and we had a 5-8 minute stretch in the first half where we got out of position a couple times and allowed 3 goals. Second half was a lot better as Washington snuck in a lucky goal making it 4-0. We would eventually get on the board late in the half with a great through ball from Lauren Tarbell to Callie Lindgren as she fired a shot in the back of the net from distance. Shortly after we had another great shot on goal by Lauren Tarbell but it sailed just right above the goal. These girls battled and fought for 80 straight minutes with short numbers and only one sub for the game. Our goalie Kyrsten DeWees was a monster today and had quite a bit of awesome diving saves, and her communication skills back there was great to see. Audrey Cheney and Lauren Tarbell were very active this game on both offense and defense and they played tough. Callie Lindgren was high energy all game and played great. Hailey Evans played great in her first game and had some great plays on defense. Also, Alanna Teeter had saved us quite a bit on defense as she stopped a lot of the attacks from scoring.

Final Score Lost 4-1
