WARRIORS UPEND REIVERS ON SOPHOMORE DAY

October 14, 2026

Ottumwa, IA – The No. 18 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men’s Soccer squad earned a 1-0 victory over Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) foe Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday in a thriller at the IHCC Soccer Complex. The Warriors improve to 5-2-7 overall on the year.

In a matchup between three of the last five National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men’s Soccer National Champions, the Warriors outlasted the Reivers in a tightly-contested league affair thanks to a second half goal from freshman Waleed Hadj-Hamou (Frisco, TX/Wakeland). The two long-time conference foes are now deadlocked at 2-2-2 against one another over the last six outings.

After a scoreless opening half, the two sides saw both lineups down to 10 men on the pitch 10 minutes into the second frame after a pair of red cards. Moments after the match went 10-aside, the Warriors earned a penalty kick as sophomore Jules Dufour (Lille, France/St. Clair County) was taken down in the box. Dufour’s initial shot was stopped, by Hadj-Hamou slipped past the Reiver defense and buried his first touch into the corner pocket for the go-ahead goal. The goal was the freshman’s second of the season.

The Warrior defense clamped down on the Reivers the rest of the way and earned the victory in the ICCAC opener for both squads.

The two sides will meet twice more in the regular season – October 22 in Council Bluffs and October 30 at a neutral-site contest in Des Moines, IA. The team with the top record, or tiebreaker, advance to the NJCAA Midwest District Championship in Illinois November 5-7.

Freshman keeper Sean Suzuki (Sydney, Australia/Chatswood) earned the victory in net to improve to 4-1-7 overall on the year.

The Warriors outshot the Reivers by an 11-4 margin on the day.

Wednesday’s contest also proved to be sophomore day for 13 individuals – Charley Robson, Noah Liebl, Tesnim Makes, Jacob Klein, Leo Morley-Robertson, Pedro Beserra, Jules Dufour, Taiga Kunishima, Joao Silva, Gabriel Gualberto, Yanis Bienville, Furkan Cengizay, and Rao Nishigami.

Indian Hills returns to action October 18 as the Warriors travel to Miami, OK to take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 12:00 PM.
