Wanda Hawkins – Klotz 85, of Gibson, died as the result of a brain hemorrhage on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Wanda Lea Hawkins-Klotz was born in Brookfield, MO on April 15, 1933 the daughter of Virgil Ray Stanley and Minnie Marie Stuart.

Wanda was a graduate of Fort Madison High School and on February 17, 1951 Wanda was united in marriage to Charles L. Hawkins. To this union three daughters were born: Joy, Dixie, and Shelley. Charles died in 2000.

Wanda worked as a housewife, a casher for Montgomery Ward in Muscatine, a secretary for Vinton Community School as well as an executive secretary for Stanley Consultants, Inc. in Muscatine. She eventually retired in 1990.

On March 22, 2003 Wanda married Wilbert Klotz.

Wanda was a member of the Gibson Presbyterian Church where she served as Head Trustee and Clerk of Session. She was also a choir member at the First Presbyterian Churches in Vinton and Muscatine. Wanda served the Keokuk County Fair as the Superintendent of Threads and Textiles. She will be remembered as a hardworking, kind hearted woman who loved sewing and dancing.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Wilbert Klotz of Gibson; a daughter, Shelley (& Paul) Matzen of Round Rock, TX; a sister, Virginia Baskett of Columbia, MO; two sons-in-law, Ted Brown of Davenport and Steve Van Zee of Gibson; six grandchildren: Joshua (& Kristin) Van Zee of Oskaloosa, Heath (& Samantha) Van Zee of Cedar Rapids, Ashley (& Michael) Reif of Montezuma, Elizabeth Matzen of Ann Arbor, MI, Elliot Matzen of Round Rock, TX, and Carrie (& Eric) Braun of Davenport. Wanda was also blessed with seven great grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Charles Hawkins; and two daughters, Joy Jewel Brown and Dixie Diane Van Zee.

A memorial service will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Gibson Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Burial will be in the St.Paul Cemetery at Watkins, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson Presbyterian Church or to Keokuk County Hospice.
