Ventura Nabs First Honor
by Wade Steinlage
Oskaloosa–Andreya Ventura (Sr., Granada Hills, Calif., Psychology) kept the opposition off the board, and for that effort she was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
Ventura claimed her first weekly laurel by shutting out Doane for 64 minutes Saturday. Her combined shutout, which included two saves, was part of a 5-0 season-opening win over the Tigers.
The award is the first for WPU this year.
