(OSKALOOSA) – This week, Rep. Guy Vander Linden (R-Oskaloosa) filed nomination petitions to seek re-election to District 79 in the Iowa House of Representatives. House District 79 is comprised of western Mahaska County and portions of Marion County, including Pella.

Vander Linden was born in Oskaloosa and graduated from the University of Iowa and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps’ Command and Staff College and the National War College. He is a retired Brigadier General in the United States Marines.

In the House, Vander Linden serves as the Chairman of the State Government Committee and also sits on the Commerce and Ways and Means committees. He is also a member of the Administrative Rules Review Committee and the Administration and Regulation budget subcommittee.

Vander Linden has been a consistent and conservative leader in the Iowa House. He will continue his efforts to rein in government spending, give taxpayers a seat at the table, and foster an environment to make Iowa competitive.

“I’m pleased with the progress that has been made here at a state level in regards to common sense budgeting practices and reducing the burden on Iowa’s taxpayers,” said Vander Linden. “Rather than forcing small businesses to jump through hoops with government regulations, we should be cutting red tape and making it easier for employers to create jobs.”

Guy is married to Carrie and is the proud father of two sons and two daughters.
