Cedar Rapids–Derek Seddon (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) and Meaghan Foster (Sr., Centerville, Iowa, Physical Education) took advantage of getting into the aptly-named Last Minute Invitational hosted by Coe Sunday.

The Invitational, which was organized late this week, had some room left in its throwing events only, which was perfect for William Penn as it was denied action with the Central Invitational being cancelled on Saturday.

Seddon, who had already qualified for nationals in the shot put, added his best event–discus–to his resume by meeting the automatic standard with a winning mark of 164-0. The junior was also fourth in the shot at 48-3.25.

Foster joins Seddon on the qualifying list as she launched her shot put a ‘B’ standard length of 43-3.75; the senior was second in the event. She also placed sixth in the hammer throw at 124-10.

A trio of other Statesmen also competed Sunday, headlined by Derek Robinson (So., Jenks, Okla., Communications) who was fourth in the hammer (139-8) and fifth in the discus (135-9). Aaron Seddon (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) was a two-time top-10 placer as well, finishing second in the javelin at 151-10 and ninth in the discus at 118-5.

Kalob Gist (Sr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) was also third in the shot with a toss of 48-6.75.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Fayette, Mo. next Saturday to compete in the Central Methodist Invitational.
