Trio in NAIA’s First Ranking
Oskaloosa–Three members of the Statesmen women’s wrestling team are on the national radar as the NAIA released its first ratings Friday.
As a team, William Penn is 23rd in the NAIA with 21 points, while it is extremely tight at the top of the national rankings. Southern Oregon is #1 with 172 points, Life (Ga.) is second with 171 points, and Grand View is third with 170 points. Campbellsville (Ky.) (159) and Texas Wesleyan (147) round out the top five.
Catherine Steinkamp (Fr., Quincy, Ill., Biology) headlines WPU’s trio as she is ranked 10th at 116 pounds. Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) is next in 15th at 123 pounds, while Brittany Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas, Nursing) is 18th at 109 pounds.
Steinkamp is also leading the group in the Heart of America Athletic Conference ratings, holding the #2 spot, while Selemani is third and Cotter is fourth. As a collective unit, WPU is sixth in the Heart with 47 points. Grand View owns the top slot in the league with 228 points.
