Trick or Treat Area Schedule

Trick or Treat is just around the corner

That spooky time is here. Kids love getting buckets of candy, and adults love to see all the little monsters! (no pun intended). I will pass along a few safety idea’s to parents and remind motorists to drive carefully. This time of the year is when the most pedestrian fatalities happen. There is a list of safety suggestions to follow, we want everyone to be safe and enjoy their trick or treat night this year.

There is 2 other events happening as well, The Library is having a Costume Party sponsored by the Teen Advisory Board, for Teens (Grades 6 to 12) Saturday October 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Also that night, Mahaska County Conservation is sponsoring a Halloween Hike at Russell Wildlife from 7:00 to 9:00 October 30th. Wear your costume and enjoy some cider and popcorn back at the nature center. For all ages.

  • Have each child carry or wear something lit
  • Adults should plan out a route in advance
  • Require well-fitting shoes
  • Avoid costumes that drag on the ground
  • Be sure a child’s mask allows full visibility and breathing
  • Trick or treaters should walk
  • Only carry flexible props
  • Only trick or treat at houses that are lit
  • Be sure kids don’t get over-heated and keep hydrated
