Mahaska County Board of Supervisors - June 9, 2014

Mahaska County Board of Supervisors – June 9, 2014

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met in special session on Monday afternoon to canvas the most recent primary election.

Also on the agenda was discussion of the Community Services Director job description. Current Community Services Director Connie Kitzman has submitted her resignation effective August 31st. Kitzman has been with the county for 13 years.

Doland submitted a couple of job descriptions to the other supervisors for their consideration. Doland said that the hiring process will be handled by the board of supervisors. Supervisor Greg Gordy asked for the description to be further defined before being voted on. The item was tabled until the next scheduled meeting.

Doland said they want to have the new hire in place by August 1st to allow some training with Kitzman.

The Supervisors also added a sick leave donation policy for the employee handbook. This would allow county employees to donate their extra accrued sick days to another county employee.

Lastly, the Supervisors decided to have their current vehicle checked, and determine if the cost of repair to the transmission is worth the expense. The current vehicle the supervisors use is a retired sheriffs squad.
