Dutch cruise past by Duhawks volleyball team

DUBUQUE – The Central College volleyball team took care of business quickly by sweeping Loras College Wednesday evening.

Central (15-12, 2-5 American Rivers Conference) won 25-18, 25-19, 25-16 over Loras (7-19, 0-7 conference)

“We saw a lot of joy tonight with this group,” coach Jeanne Czipri said. “I think they took the pressure they’ve had on their shoulders this season off and just let it rip tonight. Seniors did some great things and we were able to get a lot of players worked in as well.”

Outside hitter Paige Sexton (senior, Sheridan, Ill., Serena HS) had a big night with 16 kills to lead the team. Sophia Folkerts (senior, Die, Dike-New Hartford HS) added nine.

Kinsey Drake (sophomore, Wilton) and Alexis Crowley (sophomore, Romeoville, Ill.) both registered 10 digs.

etter Landry Pacha (senior, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS), who reached the 1,000 career assists mark last weekend, led the team again with 18.

Central wraps up its season by hosting Faith Baptist Bible College for Senior Night Friday at 6 p.m.
