Marshall, Mo.–William Penn concluded their weekend trip to Missouri taking on the Missouri Valley Vikings in Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

The Statesmen (16-9, 4-6 Heart) dropped the match in three sets to the Vikings (13-12, 6-6 Heart).

The navy and gold were outhit by a wide margin .213-.086 during the match.

The WPU attack was led by the duo of Jordan Carter (Sr., Sigourney, Iowa, Elementary Education) and Alexis Weatherspoon (Sr., Kansas City, Mo., Physical Education) who each produced sieven kills. Danielle Pendzinski (Jr., Winnebago, Ill., Elementary Education) chipped in with 4 kills of her own while hitting at a team high .364 clip.

Haley Smith (Sr., Adrian, Mich., Elementary Education) led all setters for William Penn with 14 assists and reached the 10-dig mark to finish with a double-double.

Along with Smith, two other Statesmen finished with double-digit digs led by Ashley Miller (Sr., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) with 21. Carter was also impressive on the defensive end finishing with 15.

Next Up: WPU will come home to host Heart action against Mount Mercy on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Penn Gymnasium.
