Statesmen Remain in Top 20 Nationally, Both in Top 10 in NAIA

Oskaloosa–The William Penn bowling teams enter the final days of the 2018-2019 campaign solidly in the top 20 as the most recent power rankings were released.

The Statesmen men are currently 12th in collegebowling.com’s power ranking with 4,219 points, while the women are 17th nationally with 3,366 points. A total of 184 men’s teams are included in the ranking, while there are 148 women’s teams in the list.

Among the programs that have declared their sports with the NAIA, WPU is second on the men’s side and the women are ninth. Lawrence Tech (Mich.) is the top men’s program (4,241 points), while Pikeville (Ky.) is #1 for the women (5,466 points).

Curtis Majka (Sr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) is the best Statesmen male roller at 209.7, while four others are also above the 200 mark. Majka ranks 19th nationally as an individual.

Kayla Gifford (Jr., Camanche, Iowa, Biology), with a 186.0 average, tops a trio of WPU women who are over the 180 average.

William Penn continues its season Saturday and Sunday by traveling to Fairview Heights, Ill. to battle at the McKendree Baker Challenge.
